Philosophical Roots

In the ancient world, “philosophy” just meant the art of living a good life. Two of the most influential philosophies were Epicureanism (founded by Epicurus) and Stoicism (founded by Zeno the Kitian); both schools of thought arose at the same time, around 300BCE, in Athens. Meanwhile, in India, Buddhism was already around 300 years old.
